Mater Mea present a fascinating look into Kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu’s home, routine and her approach to motherhood.

Subjects discussed include the complexity of her sculptures and collages of fractured black women, the demands of a thriving art career with that of motherhood; and her Nitarudi Ninarudi exhibition (Kiswahili for “I plan to return I am returning”) at Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects. Mutu has won many accolades, including the  Deutsche Bank’s “Artist of the Year”. We also meet her beautiful daughter and learn how having her and Mutu’s relationship with her own parents has influenced her thoughts on relationships and friendships.
